I am exhibiting in the comic village at MCM Manchester this weekend! I will be doing on the spot biro commissions like this, and maybe even some biro watercolour portraits too. Come and visit me!! ✨✏️✨
marumarushuka said: hej sarah! you've probably answered this a million times before, but what kind of pens and paper do you use? i'm used to working with pen & ink but lately my lines are looking so "crunchy" because my pen is getting old. and sadly since i moved to sweden i can't find the same brand here :( i'm trying to look for other, new ways to outline my drawings like tracing in illustrator but it looks so flat and boring then! hugs, marie/marmushka
Hiya Marie!! For everything I use (bic preferably but whatever is available) biro on bogstandard printer paper, apart for RentQuest, where I use papermate mechanical pencils on seawhite brand sketchbook paper! (I’m also a fan of derwent brand sketchbooks!).
I’ve tried using fineliners before or lining digitally, but I struggle to get any character out of the lines, which is why I prefer biros and pencil! They’re kind of scruffy in a charming way and I still feel I can get a nice clean image with them! There are a lot of comic artists that use fineliners and I adore their art, but it just doesn’t work for me personally!
I’ve been using biro for the vast majority of my work for the last couple of years because I know how to make it work for me, although I do experiment with different media every now and again because it’s both fun and important to try and branch out! If it’s possible, it might be worth trying to find a similar ink pen because you’ve got that figured out! but if not biros and pencils are pretty good! (and brush pens are very fun!!) Good luck!
:O Here is the video from my patreon page! ENJOY MY ACCENT AND STUDIO SPACE. I’m queuing up a bunch of posts for my patreon only blog!! If you wanna see that content or just support me, check out my patreon page!
DOUBLE LAUNCH!!!!! Hiya everyone!! Today I am launching both my new webcomic RentQuest and my patreon page! RentQuest is the new fantasy comic I am doing twice a week which you can read HERE, and patreon is where you can support me with money, and you can check that out HERE!!
I am starting RentQuest with four tasty pages, and then I’ll update with a new page every Monday and Thursday! I am dead excited about this comic so please check it out!
My patreon has sweet perks and an awkward video of me talking about things!!! I am using it to try and get my other webcomic, Our Super Adventure, onto an update schedule!
Hey!! I’m opening up portrait commissions and made this handy little chart so you know how much everything is!!
If you want to commission me send me an email over at email@example.com letting me know which portrait style you would like to commission me for! If you want to commission me for something else to whats posted above, tell me what you want and I’ll give you a quote!! I’ll draw your pets in any portraits as well for free! (unless you have a million pets lets be reasonable here folks ;))
I’ll reply with a list of details I’ll need from you to do the portrait, and as soon as you’ve paid me I can make a start on your commission! please paypal only!!
I’m bringing back watercolour mini portraits too, but only for a limited time! They’re £15 for only the digital file, or £16.50 to be posted within the UK, or £18.50 to be mailed elsewhere! I’ve also changed the size to 15x15cm, but if you would like a smaller size thats also okay! just let me know!
I can also print and mail off any other digital file commissions above for an additional fee. Again, just let me know if you want that! :)
